Looking for vintage tone

I have a 1971 Gibson ES-335 in Walnut. The original pickups were replaced at some point, a story for another time, and I really wanted to try and find something to try and keep that great 335 sound. I ran across Planet Tones and they recommended the MHS III based on what I said I was looking for. I really like the idea of a “boutique” pickup made in the hood old USA and they delivered! Actually got them quicker than expected. Just put them in and so far they hit all the reasons I wanted to replace what was in the guitar. I am headed to Austin to play this weekend and will give them the hard workout they need to see if they are the “real deal”… more to come…

Amazing tone and a super affordable price!

I ordered the MHS III set non wax potted and put them in my 1977 Gibson Les Paul Custom. It has never sounded this good! I can’t wait to try more Planet Tone Pickups!

MHS III Humbucker Review

VERY Satisfied! The pickup was received and in fairly quick order! I measured the neck at 6.90k and bridge at 7.45k on a Fluke 123 meter. The pickups were in perfect condition, no scratches of anything and looked fantastic. The quality was top-notch and chothed braided shielded wire used. The solder joint where short and nicely flowed on the pickup covers. The tone is fantastic! After setting the guitar up and pickup height and to get the volume balanced between neck and bridge, I thoroughly checked out the pickup with other local area guitarists. The notes are clear and well defined across the fretboard, the highs chime and the bottom is punchy. They sound very, very close if not exact to the original vintage units and Gibson Super 74 Alnico III pickups! I would highly recommend and look forward to purchasing more!! Thanks for making these available to the masses! :)
