I was in the market to find a company who makes custom pickups and allows the customer the ability to select all the different specs and am very glad I found Planet Tone. For well over a decade I used Bare Knuckle Pickups as my standard, but with increasing prices, ****** exchange rate with the UK and long build/ship times, buying from them had become a lot more cumbersome and costly. I bought a used guitar that had Planet Tone pickups and was pleasantly surprised, they sounded as good as my BKPs. I ordered a set for another guitar, and while shipping took longer than expected, they met my expectations. I bought a second set for future use and they shipped quickly. I’d ding them 1/2 a start for taking 7 weeks (on a 30 day estimate) to ship my first batch of pickups, but some of that period was over the Dec holidays so I give them a pass.

OUTSTANDING,............. Recently installed 2 planet tone P U's in my LP Custom. I bought the 57 bridge & held off installing until I got the neck built to the spec's I wanted, A4 mag, lower vintage wind with mismatched coils. After learning about A4 mags,I was wanting to give it a try. I have tried vintage style P U's from other makers including Gibson, Seymour Duncan, Dimarzio, etc. With Jose's Planet Tone P U's my LP has a distinctive old vintage tone & character. The best way to describe is woody, acoustical, airy, yet the note attack has that percussive punch that I love, think of Dicky Betts's 58 LP he used on all those early A. Broes. tunes! Another plus with these new P U's is the increased sustain of the notes, which may be due to possibly the quality or type of Mags used, I don't know but WOW, I like it ! Of course, a lot has to do with how you set up your instrument! I highly recommend Planet Tone! His web site offers P U's for all types of players. I am now a big fan of Jose's pick ups & will be buying more soon. His prices are very reasonable and they are, AMERICAN MADE ! Here is an after thought, A world class chef, can give you all the ingredients for a master class meal and anybody can prepare it for you, but it takes the skill of the master class chef to make it taste the way it should ,.......
