Filtertrons Sparkle and Spank!
I always loved the look of Filtertrons, but I wasn't really happy with any Gretsch's I've played. I decided to do a semi hollow build of my own and chose Jose's Filtertrons after loving a Tele that had his 59' Special HB in the beck and 57' Tele in the bridge., (also bought a back-up set just in case- MHS III and a Clearvoyant HB). Happy to report these Filtertrons are exactly what I was hoping for - jangly cleans for days, and bright AF leads that scream when overdriven. Now I need to find something to put the backup set in! Thanks, PlanetTone!
Just Wow!
I bought a used PRS S2 Standard 22. It's a nice guitar, but the weakest part of the guitar according to the reviews and to my own ears after purchasing were the pickups....and so the search began. Well not much of a search really. I have bought a few pickups from Planet Tone and have never been disappointed. Everything from the price, to the quality, to the customer service is first rate. I wanted some good humbucker pickups that had a clear and defined sound that could do both vintage and modern. I had watched Lucas Fowler's review of the the Legacy pickups more than a few times, LOL. I finally decided they would be the pickups for this guitar. I got them a few days ago, took the guitar to my local guitar tech, and had him put them in. When I got the call that the guitar was ready, I asked how everything turned out. The first thing he said to me was, "Those pickups sound Great!!!" When I got to the store to pick it up we chatted about how much he liked the pickups and I told him a little about Planet Tone Pickups. I couldn't wait to get home. As soon as I plugged in I knew I made the right choice. What a set of pickups....Just so warm, and clear, just enought push to get you through a mix. Some brightness but not over the top, just right. I haven't stopped playing the guitar. The single coil mode is great. You don't lose much volume and they sound amazing split!!! Planet Tone is my go to for pickups, I don't really look anywhere else. I mean I have played lots of other brands, and way more expensive pickups, but these are really wonderful sounding pickups. Lucas Fowler was right, my guitar tech was right, and I am also right when I say, "Great Pickups!!!"
Superb
