Overall experience was great, second set came faster than 1st set. I,ve tried every set of single coil pickups made in my over 50 years of playing and modding guitars, these pickups stand up to any of them and are miles better than 99% of them.I bought a set of Planet Tone Scooped mids pickups for under a hundred bucks, and a set of hand wound Custom Shop Texas specials for almost 3 times as much on the same day. I,ve used both sets previously and although different I love both sets better than anything else I have tried, I just cant decide which set to put in my new Roasted Ash strat. The Planet Tones blow away the V-Mods that came in the guitar. I will probably order another set of scooped mids again, as well as trying a new set for a little variety. These pickups are a no-brainer at any price, very chimey and articulate.
Bought some new MIM Fender vintage Strat parts to build a Strat with humbuckers, but did not like the sound, so I bought a set of Planet Tone scooped 62 to make it a normal Strat. Already had too much in a parts guitar, so decided to save a little on the pickups. Took it to a jam and played through an overdriven Blues Jr. Loved the clean chime even when driven hard. Next Mack Doss from the Classics IV got up and I dialed it back to play his hit song 'Spooky'. Great rhythm sounds for that song. Then Mack wanted to play a few he wrote and borrowed my guitar. He plays mostly rhythm and I could clearly hear every string. Last the jam host had about 15 minutes left and he broke a string, so I let him play my guitar. He had it cranked through a Vibro King and it sounded great real loud but still quite clean. Sounds as good as my 1988 USA 62 reissue Strat which is my favorite.
