Professional blues tone starts with pickups made based on the foundation of the original pickups. Alnico III magnets and original ’50s Heavy Formvar magnet wire wound according to original winding patterns with vintage techniques…this yields authentic 50s Strat® tone worthy of the original guitar heroes and chased after by the artists of today.

These pickups are very warm with that bell chime, quack and original ’50s tone! Warm, very warm! Vibrant with a nice tight bottom end. Perfect high end with to deliver punch, power with clarity and just the right amount of top end. Not piercing but driving with rich tone, luscious and flavorful. The mid range is lightly season, only for a slight, very slight, touch of thickness. The mid range is near transparent, not scooped, but only noticeable to enhance the overall ’50s experience. The bottom end is punchy, tight and holds the ’50s vibe together in a bold, rich and meaty way.

These pickups are every bit the tasty nugget that blues, vintage rockers and traditionalists love! Hand crafted for supreme quality and tone in the USA.

1954 Pickups

Really like the smooth tone. Not brittle. Just what I was looking for.

Planet Tone 1954 Original Pickup for Strat® Review
Beautiful sounding pickup

I put this in the neck of a strat, and it has that beautiful round, warm, but still single coil tone that you want. It replaced my name brand 54 style, which was comparatively bright and brittle. The tone is very responsive to volume pot, and I can get great sustain out of it. Excellent classic strat sound. Unless you are playing very high gain, you will like this.

Best Strat Pickups

I bought these after coming across Jose's site and thought I'd give them a try. They are fantastic, true to form early strat type pickups. I love how they sound. I sold my 54's from another maker that cost a lot more, they weren't as good. PTone prices are great, but its not value shopping to me, these pickups are as good or better as any of tried from any boutique maker, I now have a set in my Tele I love and a set of PAF's being made. I won't be done there either. The wait may be a bit long, thats fine by me, handmade quality is worth it. Support this guy! You won't be sorry.
