1951 Original for Tele® – Bridge
Custom USA Handmade to order
Wound for an amazing Tele® bridge tone
Current Lead Times
Back in 1951, Leo Fender set out to make a versatile guitar with a fat sounding single coil. Something that had bite, growl and a big presence. His original recipe for his creation had a pickup that often measured just under 10k. We have created our version of that pickup in the spirit of what Leo had intended.
The result is a powerful Tele® bridge pickup that has a bigger and beefier tone, still warm, lots of punch and all that Leo had intended. The '51 Original has a well focused and defined top end, great for clarity and articulation. The low end is very punchy but not anemic like so many of today's Tele® bridges. It's a nice vintage hot with a bigger, almost humbucker-like presence.
Designed for those who are looking for something with a nice powerful bark, not thin but not overly hot. Very warm and lush with a stronger mid range presence, this pickup is able to bring out the beast in your Tele®.
Great for blues, country, rock, alternative and heavier styles of play.

Another great set of pickups!
Ever since I discovered Planet Tone they have become my go to shop for replacement pickups. This most recent Tele bridge 1951 is such a classic piece without the extra cost! It’s everything I need and expect from a classic Tele bridge.
Loving Teles!!
For 40 years or so I never gave Telecasters a second thought. After doing some research and seeing how many guitar greats played Teles, I decided to build one. My first Telecaster had leftover pickups I had laying around, and that's how it sounded. So I built a 2nd with the PT 1951 Tele and the MHS III in the neck. My 1951 was rated at 10.5k ohms and I was concerned it would override its 7.0k humbucker partner when played together. My concern was killed once I wired them up and plugged the newbie Tele in! The 1951 is a bit fat in mids, but still holds lots of treble and clarity. It has bite, and it is clear as a bell on clean channels. The output allows for a little bit of compression when pushed, and is great for leads both clean and distorted. When matched with the MHS III, the sound is full and articulate. I couldn't have asked for a better pickup for a serious Telecaster build! Jose and friends have done it again! Thanks!!
Best tele pickup!
Great fat mid pushed pup
